About
Bitbang is the name me (Fabio Neves - hi!) and my partner Renata Rocha used for our independent consulting projects. We put the business on pause and got full-time jobs for a while, but we kept the name and domains since it's just that good.
We're both tinkerers and we believe the self-hosted web era is long overdue for a comeback – especially during these times of American instability. It's scary to think that most of the internet infrastructure is based in the USA, so we're looking for ways to de-Americanize our digital footprint and share our learnings with you!
These learnings go from small-scale personal servers – like the one hosting this blog – to ideas on how to migrate entire cloud infrastructures out of AWS and Google Cloud into non-US competitors.
We're dogfooding this process ourselves, right now. It can be hard and frustrating at times but the challenge is worth it. We've been taking several things for granted when it comes to cloud computing, so it's refreshing to go back to basics and come up with a truly portable and vendor-independent way of building infrastructure.
